No, this time its not about food, well maybe food for thought, and yes, it may be a bit spicy, salty even.  For some time now, I have wanted to write about where I stand on politics at this point in my life.  Unfortunately, this writing is mostly reactionary to a frustration that has been slowly building up and every now and then, seeps through.  I think I have been able to channel that frustration into somewhat of an understandable argument.  In the case of you reading this only to find it an angry rant and nothing more, I apologize for wasting your time.  However, if you it steps on your toes, the least I will do is grab the nearest pair of steel cleats and proceed with jumping . . .on your toes.  In reality, though, my main purpose is to try to boil down what I believe about  the duty of Christians in politics.  Before I start, I would like to acknowledge the fact that there are Godly men in the political world, fighting for good causes but this post is going to be mostly aimed at those who drag themselves away from their American dream only long enough to either blah blah blah on facebook or go vote against all the people they don't like.*sharpens cleats*

Instead writing out a properly formatted essay, I'll just provide my one argument in one paragraph. Any half-ways moral government is created and maintained to help the people living under it. In the years preceding Christ's life, the Jews were aching for political relief.  They needed it too, and that is why Jesus came.  And once he was here, they realized he had better plans that included saving their souls too.  "But wait" you might say, "Jesus lived his life as a homeless craftsman, and not as a powerful political name!"  You see, Jesus came to earth for the purpose of relationship.  Oh sure, he could have come down from heaven and turned the Roman Empire completely upside down, but instead, He came so that people could KNOW THE FATHER ( make sure you get this; its in all caps), experience life and joy, and ultimately, make planet earth a better place to live.  This is why relationship should be first and foremost in our minds when we process political thoughts.  After all, Jesus continues to save the world through relationship.  It is your job to make this practical.

I don't mean to judge those who vote.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I'd vote someday(once I'm old enough, that is)  All I'm trying to say is that we only get across to people once we for the heart instead of just the head.
